In a deal undoubtedly designed only for the Hartford Wolf Pack, the New York Rangers completed a late trade this afternoon with their Metropolitan Division rivals, the Washington Capitals:

Chapie, 26, was signed as a free agent in April of 2016, and Whitney, 30, was signed to an AHL contract back in September of 2017.

None of the players involved in this deal are expected to make an NHL impact this season or going forward.
