Adam Cracknell’s time as a New York Ranger appears to be coming to a rapid close. As Elliotte Friedman broke shortly after noon today, the veteran forward has been placed on waivers.

Cracknell, originally claimed on waivers by the Rangers from the Dallas Stars a couple of weeks ago, skated in just four games for the Blueshirts registering no points and a minus-one rating while averaging 7:30 TOI/G. The Rangers were the sixth team he’s played for in the last five seasons.
Cracknell had been a healthy scratch for the last two games as head coach Alain Vigneault opted to skate seven defenseman in both games. Assuming he goes unclaimed, the Rangers could choose to assign him to their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.
In the interim, there’s been no word yet on if the Rangers intend to call up another forward from the Wolf Pack, but Boo Nieves and Vinni Lettieri, both of whom have been said to be playing well of late, are surely on the short list.
